This kitchen is too bright. The morning sun is going to give Casimir a skin condition, Meghan just knows it.
Still, the view is breathtaking.
Uppies.
Jyo has a bit of time to catch up with an old friend after work one evening.
There's an old family store that makes their own nectar here, of all things, and Kevin hadn't wanted to check it out solo. He is a bit overdressed lately, Jyo thinks, wondering when he came to care at all about fashion. He seems excited, but it's not even a full moon.
Daddy Warbucks (Oh sorry here he calls himself Harbucks) is filling in for an old friend, seemingly, as he's at the register despite living in one of the most lavish mansions in town. He's a hard worker too, here even though he's feeling under the weather today. What a guy!
(He's the EAxis version of the adopted father from little orphan Annie, all the sims in Roaring heights are based on people or characters from the 1920s to 1940s)
Kevin has some news that he wants her to hear first, but after saying hello to him quickly, Jyo is already asking the proprietor if she can use the big machine in the back of the store.
“Jyo can I have a minute?” He says, walking over to her.
“Nectar now, talk later.” She says, focused. “It's not like I can come here sometime with my kid.”
She's so excited to try out the nectar maker that he can't really get a word in edgewise. Also she strips down to a bikini right in front of the other patrons of the establishment to make it. Isn't there some room she can get changed in?
Kevin's not sure if he just doesn't understand humans very well despite living among them his entire life, or if Jyoti is especially frustrating. In the end, he accepts that this is nature of their relationship and he ranks just below the nectar maker at the moment. He doesn't bother with his news after that, they both taste some things and part ways.
The house with Dustin's classical car stored away where MC can't clean it up at night. :/
Meghan loves it here, but is worried about the others that basically followed them to Roaring Heights. It's not as if the Sparrow family came here for opportunity or fame, they had plenty of that and left it behind. What if the other people don't settle in well?
“Maybe we could do something to help them along.” She says.
“The kids will settle in alright, you'll see.” Dustin replies easily.
“Maybe we could do something to help them along.” Meghan repeats.
“Okay... we could hold a welcoming party, or something?” He guesses slowly.
“It's a start.” She says.
There are no conflicts between them that can't be resolved, these days.
A peaceful place...
With a peaceful view.
Well that was boring. Jyo's metabolism is too fast to sit down longer than fifteen minutes. Thus, she upgrades the adult beverage dispenser to magically refill itself. Okay, it's not magic, but there's either an invisible refill technician that will show up in the middle of the night from now on and top it off, or there is an underground reservoir of booze here in the gilded land of Roaring Heights that it is now tapped into. Long live the decade before the great depression!
So the Sparrows have a party, and invite as many people as they can. The Fae can levitate plates of food apparently.
Many people thought it was a potluck but still remembered to arrive in their swimwear.
This should be fun.
Jet is surprised at the audacity of this woman.
Loki makes his way upstairs, as his son's cries have been echoing throughout the whole of the house, and Jyoti is so ready to give him a piece of her mind.
She informs him in no uncertain terms that she is the only parent Casimir needs, even if he's crying up a storm right now. She has no patience for Loki to be in his life at the moment, especially as he comes and goes like the wind. Casimir would need stability in a father figure, not flightiness.
He listens patiently, already privy to the tone of her thoughts. He knows that she struggles with being able to trust him, or moreover the fact that she used to have more respect for him before what came out in France. She knew he was unreliable and a bit eccentric, but she thought she knew things about him that just turned out to be wrong.
“Of course I want to see my son, but I thought you would want to have space for awhile.” He explains his absence casually, as if he didn't sense how angry she still was about it all.
“You know why, right?” She is saying.
“Since you're secretly in love with my mother, for some reason. And that's weird, and I'm not going to bother to explain that to our kid. So you can be here for parties or whatever, but I'm not telling him about you until he is much, much older. Okay?” She says in a passive aggressive way.
“Sure,” He says in a tone that is not at all disappointed.
Weird, she expected him to try and convince her otherwise.
Whatever. “Now shoo, go have a fun time at the party, mingle.”
Well, she's going to be alright for the time being.
On the way out from getting her son settled, a familiar face comes into view. Everet brought a salad as it's about all that he can make. “Are you alright?” He asks, seeing the tension in her smile.
“I will be.” She replies, stomping off, not even telling him where he can put the food that he brought.
I'm not, not sure what you're complaining about here. Is it that I added greens in herb sauce to my game, and now that it's in front of you you're angry that fish and chips were not provided instead? IZZAT IT!?
Kevin comes and dances, but does not seem happy about it.
Here's Leon (Everet's older bro and Eugene and Lize's oldest son). His swimwear is questionable.
Circe is here, badgering Stanley Meir (Malcolm's older brother) about something.
She stalks around, as if looking to make trouble.
Jyo ignores her and reminisces with Stanley about his brother. “He would love this place.” The usually disagreeable man seems sincere, and they exchange some small talk.
Jyo is not afraid of a knowing smile, but there's something that bothers her about this person. She was probably invited, as there was a largely open invitation to people from Starlight, but the woman seems overly focused on her and Jyo cannot recall ever having met the woman before.
Like wife...
Like husband.
Not everyone had a great time, but the people Jyoti cares about, did.
“Sorry if it was boring, nobody even wanted to swim.”
“It's alright,” Kevin says. “I've learned you have to let yourself be relaxed sometimes too, not merely worry that everyone else is enjoying themselves. Did you enjoy yourself?”
“Yeah...”
“Then, that's enough.”
He seems a bit different, lately.
Another uneventful event.
Loki pauses midstride on the way out the door. One thing was bothering him.
He promised that he would watch over her, over his son. The tone of that woman's thoughts, however...
It may be time to do something about Circe.
With renewed purpose, he runs off into the night.
Jet spoke with no one here other than initial greetings, napped a while on a reclining chair, and left without a word. In a way he's the ideal party guest.
For some reason these people are all leaving together at the same time. I'd feel like there was a conspiracy, if only I'd put the work in to write one...
Also Darla is here. Staring a hole in the back of his head.
...how dare she?! Apparently. No idea what these idles mean. She's not even thinking about Loki, does she have his blood type, or is she thinking mean things about Jet?
Moving on...
Jyoti runs. She had a great time, and maybe this fresh start is everything that she needs.
Getting ready for another long day. Her new canine companion is Gabby, an elderly dog that was a rescue from a local shelter.
Dustin and Meghan are able to make up for some lost time they didn't have when their own children were small, and take Casimir on outings together.
Eugene and Lize's remains have been moved here to Resting Meadows Cemetery, so a brief stop is made to see how everything came out after they were reinterred.
Emir and Malcolm are given a small space in a highly coveted open tomb on the east side of the cemetery.
Life is not perfect, but it moves on.

Is it weird that I wish more sims around town anonymously proposed? It would be cool if there were things like proposals at parties your sim hosts. For example 'the mood is just right, this party is amazing, I'm going to ask them now', that sort of feeling would be nice instead of the simple popups we get from SP.
